What Is Private Mobile Radio (PMR) Service?

Operator companies authorized by the Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK) establish radio communication infrastructures on frequencies allocated by the authority. Providing radio communication services to institutions and organizations in need over these infrastructures is called Private Mobile Radio (PMR).

Private Mobile Radio (PMR) is divided into two main categories: private communication systems and wide area radio communication systems.

Private communication systems are infrastructure projects tailored to customer-specific needs and serve only the relevant customer. These are infrastructures established by SARO for customer-specific service in defined indoor or outdoor areas such as provincial and district municipalities, campuses, shopping malls, factories, and warehouse sites.

Wide area radio communication systems enable customers to conduct radio communication within their own private group by joining the radio infrastructure established by SARO in the relevant region. In this way, customers gain the opportunity to communicate via radio over a wide coverage area without incurring high installation costs.

Frequency Usage Fees

The Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK) made a change regarding the Radio Usage Tax Fee in 2019.

““In accordance with the Presidential Decision, as of 1/1/2019, the ‘radio license and radio usage fees’ that are currently required to be paid into the account of our Authority shall not be collected for the radio systems used by operators on frequencies subject to frequency usage right fees specified in the list attached to the relevant legislation numbered 2009/15001, published in the Official Gazette No. 27239 dated 26/5/2009, and for the subscribers/users of these systems. On the other hand, usage right fees paid into the account of the Undersecretariat of Treasury for the aforementioned frequencies shall continue to be paid by the operators.”

n summary: According to the decision taken by the Authority in 2019, “Radio Usage Tax Fees shall be included in the Infrastructure Frequency Fees of the Operator Companies.” Our company pays the Frequency Usage Fees to the Ministry of Treasury and Finance. For institutions benefiting from our services, we charge a monthly “Shared Radio System Service Fee.”
